Drug Addiction

Drug addiction is a problem that has been increasing immensely in our society today. Drug addiction can only hinder or restrain us from accomplishing goals or dreams in life. People sometimes feel they are too bright, too powerful, too much in control to become addictive. Addiction can trap anyone. It leads to harming one’s body, causing problems in family structure, and contributing to society’s delinquency.

The sooner people seek help for drug addiction problems, the more chances they will gain control of their life once again. However, abstinence is the safest way to live a longer and healthier life.

The people around us greatly influence us. Today one of the number one reasons for teenage drug usage is peer pressure. Peer pressure represents the social influences that affect us. It can have a positive or negative effect, depending on what path one follows. There is direct and indirect pressure that might influence a person’s decision in using drugs.

Reasons for using drugs:-

There are many reasons why people might turn to use drugs. Emotional distress, such as personal or family problems, having low self-esteem, losing a closed member, losing a job, having no friends, and environmental stress, are all possible factors for causing one to use drugs.

The major cities of India are in the grip of the drug menace. This devastating vice furnished off the addicts by debilitating them physically and psychologically. A seminar on drug abuse recently in madras has a painted a horrible picture of this malady. The most disturbing fact is that the university campuses, college premises and school grounds nourish the evil more and more.

Drug addiction implies physical dependence upon a drug, including the development of tolerance and withdrawal. An addict who develops tolerance requires more of the drug to transport him to the world fantasizes. The addicts are not allowed to take the drug that suffers from painful and uncontrollable convulsions, vomiting, depression, and various other maladies.

Many drugs give the user a kick eradicating frustrations, and advertises the life throws of his way. They forget or do not understand that the problems drowned in drugs come back with a vengeance to torment them once the effect wears off.

The addicts’ endeavour, is escapist and it’s doomed to catastrophic failure even before it begins. Drugs used by the addicts, particularly in India, maybe categorized into narcotizes,  hallucinogens, stimulants and sedatives. Marijuana, opium, heroin, barbiturates and amphetamines are all habit – forming drugs.

Marijuana is the Indian hemp, its tetrahydrocannabinol content, and its largest concentration is in the following flowering top of the plant. The resin collected from the tops of potent cannabis Sativa is called hashish. It is considered five times stronger than marijuana; the side effects are greater and more dangerous. These drugs, which are inhaled in smoke, rolled into cigarettes. But both marijuana and hashish can be added to food and drink. As soon as its smoke is inhaled, eyes become red, heartbeat increases and usually smoker coughs. Hunger and drowsiness normally follow inhalations of smoke.

The smoker gets distortions of visions and hearing. He losses all the sense of time though the smoker thinks that his thoughts have become cleaner and better, hallucinations and delusions may also happen. Unfounded suspicion of anything accompanied by anxiety,

uncontrolled laughter, weeping and international mental fixations also are noticed. Hallucinations are drugs that provoke changes in sensation, thought process, self – awareness and emotion. Aberration in the perceptions of time and space happens; illusion, delusion or hallucination may vary in intensity according to the dosage inhaled.

It is the most powerful hallucinogen. Its mistakes dilate pupils of the eyes, flushes the face, rises body heat and heartbeat. Blood pressures shoot up, and the person feels chilly. Convulsions occur but rarely. As the effect of the drug wears off, the perpetration of the object is distorted. The subject experiences transferred emotions; he may consider must just a picture. It can also find the person with horror. Thus, insufferable terror is the result. The most detrimental effects of LSD is a flashback. Such flashbacks can cause extreme anxiety.

Drug addiction reduces the sober time available to a person. The personality of the addicts is destroyed, and his emotions become intense and destroyed. Fertility is reduced, and children born may have a serious illness and withdraw symptoms. The Indian government is making an all-out effort to check this diabolic trafficking of the drug.

“You have a choice; you can make the decisions to say no to drugs. Be above the influence, choose to refuse”.

Don’t lit “DRUGS” keep you from your dreams.

“Slam dunk. Drugs are junk.”

“When you do drugs, it also affects the ones who cars about you.”

“Drugs aren’t cool. They make you act like a fool”.
